Far Cry 2, Fable 2, Deadspace, Spiderman: Web of Shadows

Far Cry 2 is the follow up to the successful first person shooter game, Far Cry, released in 2004.

Published by Ubisoft, the game focuses on your characters quest to find “the Jackal”, a mysterious person who is instigating conflict between two rival factions in war torn Africa.

The game requires you to figure out both sides weaknesses and to neutralise their rising numbers by any means necessary. Bonus features include dozens of side missions within its free roam world and the option to complete them in ways that suit your own personal taste.

“Far Cry 2 is so fascinating, so ambitious and so entertaining it really is unmissable. From frenzied gunfights to moments of sublime visual majesty, it has everything.”
 - Game.co.uk

The game is available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with prices ranging from £29.99 to £49.99.

Fable 2

Fable II Cover ArtFable 2 is the long awaited sequel to the hugely popular Fable, released in 2004 by Microsoft.

The game is set 500 years after the first encounter in the fictitious world of Albion, but this time around, the game allows its players to live the life they choose. The core ‘choice and consequence’ aspect of Fable remains, where every decision you make will influence the way your character develops, but with added extras.

Fable 2 allows you to freely examine the world of Albion, develop and master one of three fighting styles: hand weaponry, ranged weaponry or magic. It even allows you pick up a canine companion to share the adventure.

“In a game about choices, the wisest one you can make is to play the game. After spending a few hours in Albion, you won't want to do anything else.”
 - Gamespot.com

The game is available for the Xbox 360 for £39.99.

Dead Space

Dead Space cover artDead Space is a third person action-horror survival game by released by gaming giants Electronic Arts (EA).

You take the role of Isaac Clarke, affectionately named after sci-fi writers Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke, an engineer who undertakes a “seemingly routine” mission to fix a faulty communications system aboard a deep space mining ship.

The story kicks off when you realise the coms failure was no accident and the entire crew have been wiped out by a mysterious alien virus. The aim of the game of course, is to stay alive.

Like most games of its type, running around, fending off attackers may get a little boring, however, Dead Space adds an interesting new ‘dismemberment feature’. To save ammunition, what a player can now do is target a particular limb that cripples an assailant, allowing more care to be taken over the second, more effective ‘kill’ shot.

Dead Space is definitely a solid third-person shooter for those who feel they're not getting enough nightmares.”
 - Angus Deacon, Stuff.co.nz

The game is available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with prices ranging from £29.99 to £39.99.

Spider-man: Web of Shadows

Web of Shadows cover artWeb of shadows, published by Activision, is the latest addition to the series of Spiderman games.

You play as Peter Parker, AKA Spider-man, as he tries to defend New York City against a deadly symbiote invasion. Unlike its predecessors, Web of Shadows follows a ‘choices’ system, which allows you to determine the direction and outcome of the game.

Features include choosing whether to ally yourself with the Marvel heroes or villains, switching between the red and black suits and upgrading Spider-man’s skills to suit your own experience.

“Web of Shadows is a fast-paced, soaring superhero adventure that delivers just about everything a Spider-Man game should.”
 - GameSpot.com

The game is available for all platforms, with prices ranging from £19.99 to £44.99.
