A man appeared in court on Monday charged with the murder of Jamie Sanderson.

The incident happened at Kingston’s Oceana.

Ashley Milne of Peckham, stood before magistrates at South Western Magistrates court in Lavender Hill, south London, where he was summoned to appear at the Old Bailey on October 31.

The 22-year-old will remain in custody until this date.

Emotionless

Wearing a grey tracksuit, Milne appeared emotionless, and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

One supporter sitting in the public gallery shouted to the accused “Stay strong, Ashley!”

The incident

The fatal stabbing of Mr Sanderson happened on October 25 at Oceana’s busiest student night dubbed ‘Fuzzy Logic’. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and died on the way to hospital.

Oceana has had its licence revoked by Kingston Council and it is unknown when it will reopen. Flowers have been left outside the venue in memory of Mr Sanderson.

Tributes

Tributes to the teenager have flooded in on the Facebook page “R.I.P Jamie AKA Bullet”. Toni Amelia Bates said: “R.I.P Jamie Gonna miss youu” and Saskia Perera left a message saying: “So heartbreaking I spoke about you all day today with fi just laughing about seeing you in carnival a few years ago and loads of other happy memories. Rest peacefully babe and all my love to your family x x x x”.

Second arrest

Meanwhile, a second man has been arrested in connection with the murder. The 19-year-old was arrested on Sunday and remains in custody at a north London police station.
