The Stanley Picker Gallery threw open its doors to the public for the first time this academic year since it underwent a complete overhaul.
The gallery was filled to the seams on its opening night to celebrate its 15th anniversary on October 4.
Trevor Keeble, Associate Dean at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Kingston University, said: “The Gallery Director David Falkner has completely transformed it by putting together a really professional show.”
Among the many changes to the gallery is an outstanding and impressive terrace that was designed by 12 Kingston University Architecture students, including Robert Whitten and Tommy Jay.
Mr Whitten, 23, said: “Cork was used for the main structure with steel capping across the top to encase it.
Mr Falkner added: “It just seems crazy to contemplate the idea that we might not use staff and students that are teaching and learning here as part of the project.
“We are here for the students, but then again we are also here because of the students.”
The Stanley Picker Gallery has been supported by the Stanley Picker Trust since it was established in 1997.
More recently the gallery formed part of Arts Council National Portfolio from 2012.
