What we’re listening to: Feb 2013

By Feb 21, 2013

Arts and Entertainment editor James Garwood gives us some of his picks for the best new music releases from February.

Back with his third album, Army of Two, Olly Murs is keeping to what he does best with his new single. The infectious song is  simple in the lyrics but is pulled off by Murs’ standard cheeky chappy charm. The song also hints at a bit more of a grown up vibe to go with his new album.

Some of the most identifiable voices in indie music, Two Door Cinema Club’s new single shows that they’re going from strength to strength in their work and this song has festival hit written all over it.

Alicia Keys – Brand New Me

A classic piano ballad from Alicia Keys, it’s a little forgettable in the middle but the epic change up towards the end creates a classic hit that will be infecting the radio for months to come.  Her soul voice is always soothing after a hard day at work or uni.

Example – Perfect Replacement

Example returns with his best lyrics yet in Perfect Replacement. An amazing video accompanies the new single that is crying out for a dance remix that will play out the summer in the clubs.
