In front of a big and mainly Kingston based crowd, all of KU’s men were victorious with three out of the four of them winning in knock outs.
Emiliano Garcia, who won the opening contest, said: “To be honest I can’t really remember much about it.
“It was my first bout and I’m so relieved as I’ve been stressing about it for ages.”
Knock out
After Garcia’s victory, Ayo Salami comfortably defeated his opponent, knocking him out within the first minute, much to the crowds delight.
Emmanuel Sanya, who is nicknamed Tyson for his aggressive style, then knocked his opponent out in the next match with a low shot to the body, giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead over their rivals.
Last but not least
The final match proved to be the most difficult going the three rounds but Loukas Baltzoglou was awarded the victory on points.
Emmanuel Sanya was keen to praise his trainer. He said: “We fought hard but it came down to our training and our trainers who have been excellent. The Surrey guys were very tough but they just couldn’t beat us today.”
Salami, on the other hand, believed his tactics worked well. He said: “I planned to go in hard from the start and it worked well, I’m delighted we’ve all managed to win.”
