The Anniversary Games will give the public a second chance at the Olympic experience.
Kingston students are excited about a second taste of Olympic celebration when the Anniversary Games arrive this summer marking one year since 2012’s opening ceremony.
Kingston dance student Rebecca Simpson performed at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics and is relishing the return of the games to London.
“The atmosphere around London was so amazing last summer and the games inspired so many people. It’s really exciting to know that the excitement will be back again this year to keep the Olympic legacy alive,” she said.
The return of champions
Paralympians will also be making an appearance in an event that sold out in record time – just 75 minutes after going on sale.
Gold medalist Jessica Ennis said:“It’s going to be a weird feeling but I’m really excited just to be in that environment again and kind of reliving that moment.
“It’s going to be different obviously, but I’m really looking forward to being back in the stadium.”
A second chance
Some students also feel that the Anniversary Games are a great opportunity for those that missed out on tickets for the London 2012 Games to get a taste of the Olympics when it returns to the capital in a few months’ time.
