The government has decided to give the anti-abortion charity Life £250,000 from the UK’s tampon tax.
In the UK, products that are regarded as a basic necessity are given tax exemption. This includes products such as Jaffa Cakes and exotic meats, including Kangaroo, but tampons don’t meet the criteria.
Therefore women in the UK are paying five per cent tax on sanitary products, and The River talked about this issue with Kingston’s Feminist Society.
