The new Knights Park extension building has been closed and the power supply shut off because of “a small water leak” early on Friday morning.
The recently opened £20m refurbishment will remain closed for the early part of next week while the University ensure the building is safe and are able to restore power.
In an email sent to students at 12:29 am Friday, the faculty administration team said: “We are making every effort to ensure power is restored as soon as possible and will keep you informed of progress via email. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
Until power is restored, the university said there would be no access to the new extension building, and no teaching or workshop and facilities use in the building.
All other areas of the Knights Park campus are open as usual, such as the library and café space.
Despite opening in November 2019, the building is still under construction, with the photography and moving image workshops expected to open later this month.
