Homeless man acquitted of Tolworth rape

A 28-year-old man has been cleared of raping a woman in Tolworth.

Karim Tshibangu, of no fixed address, was acquitted by a jury after two-and-a-half hours of deliberation on Friday.

Mr Tshibangu was accused of raping a woman, who at the time was 17-years-old.

The woman offered Mr Tshibangu shelter, after hearing from a friend that he was sleeping rough.

Kingston Crown Court heard the incident was alleged to have taken place after a night out in May.

Mr Tshibangu was acquitted by the jury after a trial that lasted more than four days.
