Kingston University alumni Eddie Kadi stars on Strictly

Kingston University’s own Eddie Kadi performed his first dance on Strictly Come Dancing last Saturday, with dance partner Karen Hauer. Their quickstep routine received mixed views from the TV judges, with a total points score of 22, but had an enthusiastic reaction from supporters online.

Kadi graduated from Kingston in 2004 with a degree in BSc Media Technology, and swiftly became a mainstay on the comedy circuit.

By 2009, Kadi became the first British Black comedian to sell out the O2 Arena in London. He is also a presenter and DJ, and currently hosts The Official Afrobeats Chart Show on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Kadi posted on X (formerly Twitter): “That small boy from Congo is very happy! I continue to pray for a life of enjoyment in abundance. Nothing else matters as long as you smile! @bbcstrictly”

Viewers took to his instagram @comeddiekadi to write glowing and supportive comments about his first dance. This included support from fellow comedian Babatúndé Aléshé, where he commented “👑👑.”

Kadi’s second dance will be screened on BBC1 at 6.20pm tonight.
