Taken is back with a vengeance in this sequel with Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) taken hostage in Istanbul.
We all remember him wearing his black leather jacket when things started going wrong and that all too serious scowl as he searched for his daughter.
For those of you who know who I am talking about, Liam Neeson is back and delivers a powerful performance, as he takes on those bad guys again.
Taken 2 is all about justice and revenge. To refresh your memory, in the first movie, in order for Bryan to find his daughter who had been kidnapped, he had to kill a large number of people.
In Taken 2, one of the kidnapper’s fathers comes back for revenge.
The first movie reflected hatred between human beings, but in Taken 2, above all the violence, the aggression and the blood, it is primarily full of love and tenderness.
First you can see the love between Bryan and his daughter, and then between Bryan and his ex-wife.
Bryan, who once rescued his kidnapped daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) from human traffickers, is now saving the life of Lenore (Famke Janssen), his ex-wife and the love of his life.
In Taken 2 the mother replaces the daughter, and Bryan has to more-than-ever use his CIA talents (which he likes to call “what I do best“) to bring her back to safety.
So yes, Taken 2 has a lot of emotion and action, but the suspense of the first movie has gone.
Half the film takes place in the decrepit house from its predecessor and you could be easily forgiven for thinking that the actual structure of the movie mirrors that of the first.
For instance Taken 2 starts off with scenes filmed at Lenore’s house in Los Angeles, and then the scene from the first film where Bryan has a get together with his friends is more or less repeated.
However, there’s some good news for the ladies, Kim’s new boyfriend is hot!
