In cooperation with the London Fire Brigade, police officers will be sending warning letters to anti-social behaviour offenders and giving safety presentations in schools about the festivities’ dangers.
The Met is currently undergoing after-school patrols at transport hubs and town centres to make sure no robberies or other criminal acts break out.
“We are here for London and to help make sure that everyone can enjoy the festivities and stay safe,” said Commander Mak Chishty. “I would like to stress that our operations are not aimed at demonising young people, the large majority of whom behave safely and responsibly.”
He added: “However those intent on committing crime and anti-social behaviour will face the consequences.”
Authorities call for anyone who has any concerns to call their local Safer Neighbourhoods Team or 999 for emergencies.
