The Rio Olympics in 2016 is the proposed destination for Josh Dines as first he aims to get a medal this weekend in the BUCs Clay Pigeon Shooting Championships.

The second-year financial economics student is going to the West Midlands this weekend to compete against 250 other students from universities around the UK.

Dines said: “I’m definitely looking for a medal this weekend and my coach doesn’t see any reason why not.”

Dines, 23, has not shot competitively since winning a bronze medal at the British Open in 2008. He also represented Great Britain and Essex the same year.

He has not trained regularly for a while but wants to kick-start his career after competing this weekend.

He said: “After this competition I start training every week and I’m going to concentrate on sport for the next year and look to compete in the next Olympics.”
