Kingston men’s fourth team moved within reach of the title after a 4-0 demolition of bottom of the league Buckinghamshire New University sixths.

The home side extended their lead at the top of the South Eastern 6A league with a dominant win and are now just one victory away from securing the title.

Jake Stead said: “It was a good game; I thought we were strong. It was quite an easy game, we just need to go on to the next game and win it to win the league. It was the best performance of the season I’d say.”

Kingston wasted some early chances before the lively David Baptista latched onto a long ball and poked home to break the deadlock.

After the first goal, Bucks’ only real attacks came on the counter with the referee’s whistle disrupting much of the first half.

Second half domination

The match was put to bed in the second half, when Kingston winger Gareth Chendlik scored with a spectacular volley from the edge of the box that left the keeper helpless.

Chendlik said: “You’ll never be seeing one of those again! But it was an alright volley to be honest.”

Centre back Danny Taylor headed in unmarked from a corner for the third goal and to secure the points for his side.

In the final 10 minutes, Kingston forward Lucas Ata-Amonoon, on as a substitute, chested down a long ball forward to prod it home and complete the rout.

“We dominated the whole 90 minutes, we just played the better football,” added Chendlik.
