A motion was passed at the Big Student Meeting (AGM) that will include gender neutral prefixes on staff and student ID cards starting in September.
This move was included in a motion to create more solidarity with Kingston University’s LGBT students to make them feel safer.
Jamie-Leigh Fish, who proposed the motion, said that they would want it rolled out from the next academic year and that it would also be an option on replacement ID cards.
Other parts of the successful motion are that all society and union members will be asked their preferred pronouns and that they will be acknowledged during conversations and that there will be an assurance of solidarity between students and the union by making sure adequate sensitivity training is provided through the university.
