Friends of a KU girl who was found dead in her home last week have been left devastated by her mystery death.

Nicole Robertson, 19, a second-year criminology and sociology student, died at home after housemates heard her coughing in the night.

A Kingston Police spokesman said: “The post mortem was held earlier this week. The death is not suspicious but is unexplained.”

An inquest has been opened and adjourned and a full inquest will be held at a later date.

Cause of death not determined

The spokesman said: “The cause of death has not been determined. More tests will be carried out and samples have been sent for toxicology tests.”

Café-owner Victoria Lowry, 20, who went to the same school as Nicole, said: “I’ll miss her so much; she played a huge part in all our lives. It still hasn’t sunk in properly yet.

“Nicole was fun loving, someone who lived life to the full. Every day was different; there was always a smile on her face and a positive attitude to match. She was so funny, I could sit with her for hours and laugh until I ached.

One in a million

“She truly was one in a million and I’ll never ever forget her or the many happy times I’ve shared with her. It’s so comforting to know how many people adored her and are offering their condolences. It’s just a shame; she had such high hopes for her future.”

Dr Bridget Towers, director of studies for criminology at Kingston University, said: “Staff and students are shocked and saddened by the news of Nicole’s sudden passing; she was a lovely young woman who had an outstanding record of academic achievements during her time at Kingston.

“She was held in great respect and affection by her tutors and fellow students. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this painful time.”
