KINGSTON 2-3 LSE 2

ALDI MEN’S SOUTHEASTERN TIER 4

Kingston men’s football team suffered yet another home defeat, and for the second time this season, to LSE 2 at Tolworth on Wednesday.

LSE 2 striker, Noe Gonzalez, pounced on two mistakes to score twice to give the visitors the three points, despite Kingston scoring two brilliant goals.

Kingston goalkeeper Jørgen Helén got caught in possession by Noe just seven minutes in, with the LSE striker nicking the ball from his feet and finishing into an empty net.

However, just two minutes later Helén made up for his mistake by denying Hugo Bourku from scoring, the player was through on goal and denied by the outrushing keeper.

Kingston appeared to turn things around after a period of domination with Ryan Jin winning a freekick just outside the box, which Jean-Paul Carvajal took and curled with his left foot into the back of the net.

The game took a sad turn at the 43rd min when Kingston’s Jason Amountwi tackled arguably the best player of the first half, Will Warren, with the player landing on his recently broken collarbone.

The LSE midfielder had been out for two months with this being his first game back. He believes he rebroke it as he was subbed off immediately and went to hospital.

The second half began with Kingston dominating as Ryan Jin came closest on the 51st min after he dribbled past the whole right side of LSE and then cut inside, with his curling effort just going wide.

Kingston’s domination ended on the 59th min when a clearance from a corner was missjudged by defender Cameron Sully, with the ball bouncing over him leaving Noe through on goal.

The LSE striker’s pace was too much with no one being able to catch him as he slotted pass Helén who manged to get a touch but could not keep it out.

Noe was at it again three minutes later running down the right wing and squaring it to Alfie Davis who tapped in at the near post.

Kingston fired back on the 66th min with a Ryan Jin screamer from 30 yards out leaving LSE keeper Nick Sawyer standing still and watching the ball thump into the right side of his net.

The hosts pushed for an equaliser dominating the last quarter with George Mitchell coming nearest seeing his free header just creep over the bar.

Goal scorer Ryan Jin said: “I guess we could have done more. It is just frustrating. We were the better side – that is all that matters. We can take that into our next game.

“It feels good to score, but I think I could have scored a lot more but I’m happy I scored a good goal at least.”

The result leaves Kingston with three losses in four games this season and fifth in their six team league, with two games in hand on the team in 6th place.

Manager, Paul Mitchel said: “The team did everything I asked of them both individually and as a team, and if we hadn’t gifted them two goals, we would have won the match.”

Asked how they intend to fix the run of poor results he said: “We’ll continue to stick to our principles and work on more individual responsibilities.”

Noe Gonzalez was by far the man of the match scoring twice and assisting, as well capping off a brilliant team performance by the visitors.

He said: “I feel very good obviously. I had a good game but most importantly the team performance and hunger we had on the pitch.

“Such an important win against a difficult opposition and I’m happy to contribute with my goals and assist.”
