Deadlines are around the corner, stress levels are running high and unfortunately you don’t seem to have a lot of money left to pamper yourself. Well, the good news is that there is no need to run to an expensive facialist or spend several pounds on an over-the-counter mask when you can make your own supply of homemade facial masks.
It’s fun, easy and can even be stored in the fridge and periodically dipped into for up to a month.

We have compiled the best DIY masks for every skin type.

OILY SKIN – Avocado Mask

Ingredients:
1/2 avocado
1 tablespoon yogurt
1/3 teaspoon lemon juice
1 egg white

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Apply to damp skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with room-temperature water. Pat dry and follow with non-comedogenic moisturiser.

ACNE/BLEMISH PRONE SKIN – Aspirin Mask

Ingredients:
1 Aspirin
Water/honey

Crush aspirin and mix it with water. You can also use honey as mask which will dry up your pimples fast!

DRY SKIN – Milk Mask

1 teaspoon powdered milk
1 tablespoon runny honey
1 teaspoon aloe vera gel

SENSITIVE/IRRITATED SKIN – Oat Mask

1 cup natural yoghurt
½ cup oatmeal

Mix the ingredients together. Apply to the skin for 10-15 minutes and rinse with a warm washcloth. This mask is great for soothing chapped, sunburned or otherwise irritated skin.

COMBINATION SKIN – Rose Mask

Ingredients:
(Optional: 6 fresh rose petals)
2 tablespoons rosewater
1 tablespoon natural yogurt, room temperature
1 tablespoon runny honey (you can warm it in a microwave for a few seconds)

Soak the rose petals, then crush them in a bowl. Add the rosewater, yogurt and honey.
Mix well and apply to the skin. Leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse. This mask is perfect for balancing out the oily and dry areas of your skin.

ALL SKIN TYPES – Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:
2 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoon warm water

Stir sugar into warm water so that it melts. Make sure that the granules have dissolved, otherwise they could tear your skin. Then apply to the face and gently massage around the skin. Rinse with warm water. This helps clear up clogged pores to give it a radiant glow.
