A second north London student has died in hospital three weeks after a Northampton nightclub crush claimed the life of a student from Neasden.

Laurene Danielle Jackson, 19, from Wembley, had been in hospital since the crush at the Lava & Ignite club on October 19.

Nabila Nanfuka, 22, a student studying at Northampton University was also killed in the crush, while a third student, a 21-year old from London was released from Northampton Hospital on October 25.

An inquest into Miss Nanfuka’s death heard she died as a result of traumatic crush asphyxia.

Around 1,300 students from around the UK attended the hip-hop and R&B night at the club.

Witnesses said students rushed for the exits following an announcement that coaches were leaving soon to take them home. Then, a fire alarm went off which has added to the chaos.

Northampton Borough Council has temporarily suspended Lava & Ignite’s licence while an investigation is carried out.

A full review by the council will take place on Monday, November 14.
