The trio, comprised of Jonty Fisher on the double bass and vocals, Naadia Sheriff on the piano, and James Fenn on the guitar, will be performing at the Rose’s Culture Cafe at 1.15pm. <--break-><--break->

Jonty told The River that the audience members will be treated to a mix of songs. “The trio started out its life doing early Nat ‘King’ Cole trio arrangements, hence the line-up of piano, bass, guitar and vocals. But as time has gone by, and partly in response to audiences, I’ve added new arrangements of jazz standards. I also have some of my original compositions in there too.”

Jonty, who has played for audiences that have included Prince Charles, Sir Cliff Richard and President Bill Clinton, said he is “very excited” for today’s gig. This will be Jonty’s third time performing at the Rose Theatre, but the first time he has performed at the venue with his own band.

Jonty intends to take his audience on a journey. “Hopefully to leave people feeling better than when they came in… enriched maybe,” said Jonty.

The Jonty Fisher Trio gig is a free event.

Next month’s Jazz First Tuesday performer is Winston Clifford.
