The Kingston Keep Our NHS Public received over 200 signatures for a petition to save the NHS from cuts on Saturday November 10.
The campaign group and its supporters within the community camped outside the Bentall Centre in Kingston in protest of the new plans for the NHS.
“If the NHS becomes private it means the poor will die and the rich will get all the medication they want,” said foundation year KU computing and mathematics student, Tanis Wolf, who helped with the petitioning in the centre of Kingston.
The Coalition government has planned cuts of 24 per cent for South West London NHS by 2017, which would mean selling shares of the service to private health care providers.
The next demonstration will be in Lewisham on November 24.
