Son of Pink Floyd guitarist loses appeal against 16 month sentence

Charlie Gilmour, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour’s son, has lost his appeal against his 16 month sentence for violent disorder during a student fees protest.

The Cambridge University history student pleaded guilty at Kingston Crown Court in May for attacking a shop in Oxford Street and a car in the royal convoy.

Gilmour was also photographed swinging from a Union Jack flag on the Cenotaph during the demo last December which thousands attended.

Judges at the Court of Appeal said the 21-year-old’s jail term was not “unduly harsh”.
