“So far, throughout this lockdown, I’ve been watching The Sopranos, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and the Hellboy movies”.
Always Sunny is the long-running FX sitcom starring Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Rob McElhenney. The series has been compared to the likes of Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm. You can stream the show on Netflix right now.
Hellboy and its sequel Hellboy II: The Golden Army, are Guillermo del Toro directed supernatural horror-inspired superhero movies. Starring Ron Perlman, Hellboy sees the titular character take on demonic foes throughout the two films. Catch these movies on Prime Video.
The Sopranos is often regarded as one of the best TV shows ever according to IMDb. The gritty crime drama follows the Soprano family and their patriarch figurehead Tony. The show watches the family as they ascend through the ranks of the criminal underworld. The Sopranos is available on DVD, Prime Video and Sky television.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is the younger British sibling of the highly-popular reality show. Starting back in 2019, it has run for two series and currently airs on-demand on BBC Three.
The L Word is a noughties drama series that aired on the Showtime network. Starring Jennifer Beals, the series examines the relationships of lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in California. Catch the series right now on Amazon Instant Video.
Mob Psycho 100 is an anime series that follows a schoolboy called Kageyama Shiego who develops psychic powers. Throughout the series, Shiego has to balance his paranormal abilities with regular teenage life. You can stream the show on Netflix currently.
Antonio Chikhungu (Creative and Cultural Industries)
“Right now, I’m watching the American version of The Office, Girlfriends and Attack on Titan”.
The Office (US) has been recently added to Netflix in the UK. Across the country, many people are discovering or re-watching the show throughout lockdown. Starring Steve Carrell and John Krasinski, it follows Michael Scott, the bumbling boss of a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Girlfriends is a black sitcom that ran for eight years, starting at the turn of the millennium. The series features an ensemble cast including Tracee Ellis Ross. The show follows the romantic lives of four black women in middle America. Girlfriends is available on Netflix.
Attack on Titan is a critically acclaimed anime series that is currently into its fourth and final series. First airing back in 2013, the series has been praised for its dynamic animation and drama-style narrative. AOT follows Eren and Mikasa as they navigate through a post-apocalyptic world filled with dumb but physically imposing humanoid giants that eat people.
