The first Transgender woman to win a Grammy

Kim Petras claimed to be the first openly Transgender woman to win a Grammy award last month however she was pipped to the post back in 1970.

Wendy Carlos, 83, is an American musician and synthesiser pioneer, won three Grammys for her album Switched On Bach in 1970.

Carlos won in three categories: best classical album, best engineered album and best classical performance.

With this new found success, Carlos went on to create the soundtrack for Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’ and ‘A Clockwork Orange’.

She then went on to create 10 albums, The Theme of Tron (1982) and the accompanied video game, and recently worked on The Ready Player One film.
