Award winning artist Svetlana Semenova has brought her exhibition Moments in Time to Cass Art Kingston – with free admission from 12 – 31 October.

The exhibition is part of the Women in Art Initiative’s prize, which Semenova won in September 2023.

All of the portraits are of female subjects, which for Semenova highlights the importance not only of female artists but female subjects.

Semenova said: “While I hope that women in particular feel represented by the exhibition, I very much wish that all visitors come away feeling that the works speak to them in some way.”

The exhibition comprises both still life and portrait paintings, created using mainly oils or charcoal.

Semenova said: “Although I hope visitors appreciate the technical side of the paintings, because I put much time into rendering each one, I also want them to connect with the story that each tells.”

Being a woman in the art industry is at the forefront of Semenova’s work as she is also an Associate Member of the Society of Women Artists (ASWA).

“Women are still underrepresented, despite significant progress in recent years and I am proud to be a part of their growing contribution to this field,” Semenova said.

She has exhibited her work in several countries including the United States, Russia and England.

Semenova has also completed courses at Central St. Martins, The School of Architecture and Design in Moscow and the London Atelier of Representational Art (LARA).
