BFI’s fifth Future Film festival

The BFI‘s fifth Future Film festival spans a weekend and offers 15 to 25-year-olds the chance to go to preview screenings, Q&As and master-class workshops.

There are two films being previewed at the Future Film festival, one of which is Black Pond: a dark story about a family who are accused of murder when a stranger dies at their dinner table. It stars comedian and presenter Simon Amstell and is directed by Tom Kingsley and Will Sharp.

Wild Bill is the second film being previewed at the festival. It is a black comedy about a father who is released from prison and finds that his young teenage sons have been left to fend for themselves. It marks the directing debut of long-time actor, Dexter Fletcher.

Dexter was particularly excited about screening his film at the festival. “I’m interested in the audience that go and see it, who respond to it and who tell their mates to go and see it,” he said.

“I’m interested in the widest audience as possible – not because it’s going to make money, because I won’t particularly, but because it means more people will see the film and that’s what I want as a film-maker.”

Those attending will have the chance to learn everything about the film industry, from how to get funding to how to pitch an idea. The Future Film festival runs from February 18 to19. Tickets cost £10 for one day or £15 for two.
