Making the most of a pumpkin this Halloween.
Eve Carson
Halloween is tomorrow, which means it’s the trick or treating time of year. It’s also a great excuse for lots of fancy dress and of course the most popular time for pumpkins.
Yes, pumpkins are used for decorating your doorstep or windowsill at night, but what else can be done with this big orange vegetable? Why not try something new? Why not try using your pumpkin to make:
Pumpkin soup
It’ll warm you up on a cold autumn evening and is a delicious way to use a pumpkin as well.
Recipe: pumpkin, olive oil, onions, veggie stock and cream.
Pumpkin facemask
A pumpkin facemask will help to revitalise and soothe your skin after facing the bitter cold and windy weather that has suddenly sprung on us. Filled with vitamin A, vitamin C and Zinc it has to be a nice treat for your skin.
Recipe…cooked pumpkin mashed into a puree, honey and yoghurt
Pumpkin cupcakes
Pumpkin cupcakes, my favourite way to use pumpkin is in a cupcake. It means you get to take something savoury and make it sweet and also healthy, well kind of.
This recipe is available from Delicious Magazine and includes: pumpkin, sugar, flour, baking soda, eggs, ginger, sour cream all mixed up to make yummy pumpkin cupcakes.
So there you have it some alternatives for your pumpkin’s uses.
Decorating, eating or revitalising, a pumpkin has many possibilities.
Happy Halloween!
