Kingston fashion graduate Sadie Clayton has shot to fame after designing the copper top worn by BRIT Award winner Ellie Goulding at Glastonbury.
Clayton, who graduated in 2013, designed the bra as part of her graduate womenswear collection.
She said she had been inspired by erotic romanticism and Japanese home interior. The bra is made of leather and Lycra.
“When I got an email saying to flick the TV on I was so happy. It was quite surreal,” Clayton said.
“I’m always quite hard on myself, so I did not think something like this would come as quickly as it did.”
Ellie Goulding’s stylist found the Kingston graduate’s design when she was browsing through press agency Anisa Topan’s webpage.
Clayton said she was unsure the deal would come along, since there is always a buzz about celebrities asking for clothing.
After the million-selling artist wore the copper top in front of 900,000 fans Clayton has been interviewed by several fashion publications including Elle.
She has also seen her designs pictured at London bus stops, thanks to advertisement campaigns by Samsung.
“A lot of people ask me about Ellie in interviews. It is always great to get celebrity placements,” Clayton told The River.
The 23-year-old has gone on to build her own brand after graduating, and her label will be soon stocked internationally.
Speaking about the fashion course at Kingston, Clayton said she had the opportunity to learn how to build a business, which has helped her in the creation of Sadie Clayton Limited.
Clayton recently showcased her SS15 collection, sponsored by Red Bull, at London Fashion Week.
It was her second year contributing at the trade show, which is one of the world’s biggest fashion events.
