Kingston Music Service (KMS) is bringing their spring gala concert back to the Rose Theatre in Kingston on 23 March.
The concert will comprise of performances from several of the music service’s student ensembles and orchestras.
Sharon Manganaro, the instrument and music support officer for Kingston Music Service, discussed the importance of live performances to aid its student’s progress.
Manganaro said: “Live performances allow students to see and feel what it is like to show off their talent and hopefully give insight into what a career as a musician can be like.”
Kingston Music Service provides the opportunity for people of all ages in the local area to learn how to play an instrument.
KMS offers a varied music programme which supports music education for pre-school age children and children in school aged 4-18 years old, while also offering tuition for adult learners in their extra-curricular programme.
Manganaro said: “Even if you’re new to trying an instrument at any age we encourage, if not demand, that you try it.”
The gala will be a way for people to see and appreciate what the students of KMS have learnt.
The night also intends to inspire the students performing to continue their music education by showcasing their progress to an audience.
“It’s a different kind of feeling after you have played a few pieces of music you have been practicing, to then finish and hear a big applause,” Manganaro said.
The spring gala concert will begin at 6.30pm on 23 March, tickets are available on the Rose Theatre website.
