Hundreds of students piled into the SU on Sunday night to watch the New England Patriots lift the Super Bowl trophy.

The event finished at 4AM after six hours of play and the Katy Perry half time show allowed some dancing to break out.

James Graham, business student from America, said: “It’s great how I can feel at home with so many football fans everywhere and there’s a real sense of America here…The hotdogs and football jerseys really make me feel at home.”

Technical difficulties left the hundreds of fans watching a blank screen when Seattle scored a touchdown, with fans resorting to gathering around an iPhone.

Matthew Sinnett, American football, said: “It’s refreshing to see a variety of sports fans here and not just football, there’s a great sense of community.”
