KU students to cycle over 1,000 miles to raise money for charity.

Nine KU students will cycle over 1,000 miles on a gruelling expedition, from London to Monaco, in a bid to raise £10,000 for the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.
Sam Corn, Josh Dines and Matt Piechowicz came up with the idea of ‘Cycle for Heroes’ after meeting just six months earlier in a Clayhill halls kitchen in 2011.
“We have always wanted to end our university life with a bang by doing something big, and seeing as one member of the team lives not far from Monaco we thought about doing a cycle expedition down to his house and spending a week there,” said Sam Corn, a third-year exercise and health student.
“We wanted this trip to have more meaning so we decided to raise money for charity. Help for Heroes was our chosen charity so we changed the route to include some of the significant war orientated sites,” he added.
Showing their support
The Kingston boys are raising money for the charity to show their support and respect for the soldiers who have been wounded in conflict while serving in the armed forces.
Their trip will see many sites affected by the war, including the Forest of Compiegne, the Upper Somme Valley and several military cemeteries.
“We felt it was necessary for us to take in some landmarks which relate to the ethos of our trip. Plus when we suggested it to Help for Heroes they loved it,” said Sam.
