Two Kingston University graduates have been nominated for the British Short Animation Award at the EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs).

Jac Clinch and Jennifer Zheng are both KU Illustration Animation graduates and are nominated for their separate shorts “The Alan Dimension” and “Tough” in the shortlist, announced on Tuesday (January 10).

Zheng’s “Tough” was her Kingston University graduation film project. Focusing on cultural misunderstandings between a British-born daughter and her Chinese mother, it is currently having its North American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah this month.

“The Alan Dimension” was written and directed by Jac Clinch alongside writer Jonathan Harbottle and producer Millie Marsh. It was among 17 other films selected in the Cinéfondation competition for the 69th Cannes Film Festival and won the Junior Jury Award for a Graduation Film at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival last year.

The 2017 BAFTAs will be hosted by Stephen Fry and broadcast on BBC One at 7pm on February 12.
