The River and Mouth magazine have, once again, been nominated at The Guardian Student Media Awards, which take place on Wednesday in London.
Fingers crossed
One of last year’s River editors, Shabana Adam, who will be attending the ceremony has her eyes on The Guardian internship that comes with the award. “Just to win the award would be such a great achievement – getting the internship on top would be the cherry on the cake! I would be ecstatic! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we win but there’s some tough competition this year,” she said.
The shortlisted publications and writers were picked from 648 entries across nine categories, with Kingston University represented for Mouth magazine and The River for publication of the year.
Hopes are high for Kingston University as The River won the award last year beating some of this year’s competitors.
The panel of judges consists of some of the country’s well known figures from various areas of media, including The Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger, Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow and award winning The Times columnist Caitlin Moran.
The current editorial team for The River wishes their predecessors the best of luck and will keep readers updated on how they did on the night.
