An engineering student from Kingston Hill has monitored bees to help them produce their honey before hibernating prematurely.

Donald Howard, 21, has set up sound monitors using mini microphones and sound vibration scanners to listen to the bee noise patterns at Kingston Hill campus’ own beehive farm.

Mr Howard said: “With the changing weather here, bees tend to go prematurely into hibernation and do not produce any honey.

“My tests of the bees’ sound will help us take better care of the bees more affectively and this will hopefully see their colonies grow.”
